Mental Health Advocates
The Mental Health Ministry Team for our pastorate of St. Joseph the Worker met this past week to discuss potential action items for the coming weeks and months. We had a very productive discussion, with many ideas being suggested. The presentation that we were planning for late February will now take place within a 4-part speaker series that will be offered on the first four Mondays of March: March 2, 9, 16 & 23, from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. The location is yet to be determined. The four topics are: The Impact of Mental Illness on Individuals and Families, An Evening with a Mental Health Professional, Spirituality and Mental Illness, and Mental Health Resources and Ministry. Please help spread the word! Remember if you or someone you know is struggling with mental health challenges, call the Suicide and Crisis Line at 988. The diocese has a Mental Health Ministry office, with it's own website that is filled with helpful resources: http://www.madisondiocese.org/mentalhealth
Our pastorate has developed a team of Mental Health Advocates, consisting of Gail Steiner, Kathy Bartels, Ann Boyle, Denise Dixon and Bill Manthe. Be sure to communicate to one of us your thoughts on a topic for a workshop at our pastorate. Look forward to a mental health and faith support group beginning in the coming months.
We’d also like to make you aware of the great work that Patti & Terry Cullen are doing with their organization, Ben’s Hope. It’s named after their son Ben who died by suicide. They host a survivor’s of suicide support group, a fundraiser coming up soon, and a retreat in the fall. Get more info at: www.bens-hope.org.
Bill Manthe is the Mental Health Advocate contact for our pastorate. He can be reached at St. Clement Church, 723-4990.
