Have you ever felt like what you are doing or where you are at just isn’t really your destination in life? Could it be that you are not just called to a new job or a different apartment, but to a whole new life? Might religious life be the life for you? I am Sister Kathleen Murphy and that whole new life came to me when I became a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity! It wasn’t a long journey from my farm home in the Diocese of Madison to our beautiful motherhouse in Manitowoc, and yet it was a chance to experience a God-given adventure. If you are up to enter on such a journey, visit my Community at https://fscc-calledtobe.org or even think about an in person stay with us here in Manitowoc, WI. As the Gospel urges, “Come and see!”
TEC Retreat 198 Coming to St. Mary in Platteville:
The start date is October 24 (start noon on Friday)- 26 (ends 3:30 on Sunday). TEC (Together Encountering Christ) is centered on the Paschal Mystery of Christ. Our Shepherd Bishop Donald Hying has also centered his 'Go Make Disciples' initiative on that same theme. TEC is especially designed to help us grow in our love for Christ and our Holy Catholic Church. It is an amazing experience for any age who are young at heart and at least 15 years of age. Regardless of your present walk in our Catholic Faith, you will be rejuvenated. This is also a 'shout out' to those of you who have already experienced a TEC retreat and would like to help out. Fr. Greg Ihm will be our Spiritual Director. Bill Seyer is the Lay Director and can be reached at 608.988.6543.
More information about TEC can be found at www.MadisonDiocese.org/TEC
Hello!
My name is Deacon Roger Scholbrock, and I’m a Permanent Deacon serving in the Diocese of Madison, currently assigned to the St. Joseph the Worker Pastorate. My wife, Wendy, and I have lived in the Potosi/Tennyson area for over 30 years, where we raised two daughters (now both married) and are blessed with one amazing grandson.
After retiring from my previous career, I recently stepped into a new chapter as Pastoral Minister at St. Clement’s, following Bill Manthe’s retirement. It’s a big transition for me, and I sincerely appreciate your patience and support as I settle into this new role.
For the past 40 years, I worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, museum and exhibit designer, and senior art director. Shifting into full-time ministry is certainly a major change—but one I’ve prayerfully hoped for over the years. I’ve often asked God to show me how I might use the gifts He’s given me in service to His people, and in His time, He answered. That’s what led me to retire from design and accept this new calling.
I already have the pleasure of working alongside Leigh Boorn, our Director of Evangelization, across our pastorate communities. Together, we’re focused on offering prayer and outreach that helps individuals grow in their personal relationship with Christ Jesus.
I’m truly excited to see how this ministry unfolds and how I can walk with you in your faith journey. I believe God is doing something beautiful in our parish, and together, we’re just beginning what promises to be a vibrant and faith-filled future.
Pax,
Deacon Roger
FAMILY PROMISE at ST. CLEMENT
Our Host Week Is Coming Up!
Our week to host families experiencing homelessness is coming up the week of September 7. While that may seem far off, it really is not, especially with Labor Day the week before. Volunteer Sign-Up Forms for the various areas of service are on a table in the back of church. You can volunteer for more than one area, or more than once. Please sign up early in order for us to be ready on the 7th. If you have any questions, or are interested in helping out but have not done so in the past, please give me a
call at 723-4990, or Peg Jonas at 723-2051. Thanks!! ~ Bill
St. Clement Chicken BBQ Dinner raffle & dinner ticket packets are on the tables in the church entrances. If you haven’t picked up yours already, please do so. According to state law, we are not allowed to send raffle tickets through the USPS, so we are asking for your help in picking up packets belonging to your neighbors, friends and other family members, which is GREATLY appreciated!
Ms. Riley Kieler will be the new Second Grade Teacher at St. Clement School. She will be taking over for Mrs. Melissa Wiest, who will be teaching Third Grade in Fennimore this school year. Riley is a recent graduate of Viterbo University in La Crosse, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She lives in Fennimore where she also graduated from high school.
St. Clement’s beloved 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Melissa Wiest, has recently accepted a 3rd grade teaching position at Fennimore Community Schools. As difficult as it was for her to make this decision, and as it
is for us to see her leave our wonderful school, we are very happy for her and her family. We always pray for the best for all of our teachers, students, and families, and this is definitely a great opportunity for Mrs. Wiest to teach in the community she lives in, with increased benefits to support her family.
That being said, we have posted our second-grade teacher opening on the WECAN website, and encourage all of you to help spread the word as we look for our new teacher. Interested parties can be directed to our school Facebook page or given the following link to apply for the position:

The Lancaster Association of Churches (LAC) FoodPantry has seen a dramatic increase of those needing help. At the same time, the pantry has been blessed by receiving food assistance from some of the local KwikTrips, Dollar General and individual donations. The Pantry is seeking an individual (or 2 or 3 people) who are willing to pick up the donated food from Kwik-Trip in Lancaster on Thursdays, as well as Dollar General on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Again, this could be the same person, or different volunteers. The process is very simple, and takes only a little bit of your time. To volunteer or to get more information, contact Linda Bendorf, the LAC Pantry manager, at 608-988-6216 or [email protected]. Whatever help you can give would be greatly appreciated!
Its going to be another amazing night. This year our theme is Kentucky Derby. As always, the attire is optional, but if you decide to partake in the fun theme, you will be awarded a FREE Drink Ticket.

Hello St. Clement Families:
As Christmas approaches, we are checking to see if there is interest in again forming a youth choir for Christmas Eve. Last years’ experience was beautiful. We are asking 4th-8th grade students to join us for three rehearsals: We would like you to make at least two of these (all three is better).
Wednesday, Dec. 11 @ 5:45 - 6:45 PM
Wednesday, Dec. 18 @ 5:45 - 6:45 PM
Monday, Dec. 23rd @ 5:45 - 6:45 PM.
We plan to have these students sing at the 4:00 PM Christmas Eve Mass. Please respond as soon as possible or by Saturday, Dec. 7, either by email: [email protected] or by calling or texting (608) 778-0709. Please respond either way (yes or no …or with questions).
If there is enough interest, we will move forward with the rehearsals. If not, we will move forward with a different plan. Our goal is to prepare a prelude song or two and have the kids sing as Communion is being distributed. We look forward to making a joyful sound for Christmas.
Sincerely,
David Murphy and Patricia Leh Murphy
